The Technical University of Gdansk organizes an international conference - ETHICOMP2001. The organizers have taken into account suggestions of the head of the Multimedia Communications Laboratory WNS UAM, Andrzej Kocikowski, that one of the sections' meetings should be held "on the 'Net". The idea was as follows: audio/video signal from the conference room (rooms) is made available on a server, so that the whole world can take part in this section's meeting. It was decided that some of the speakers and audience will be located in the Internet studio of Multimedia Communications Laboratory WNS UAM, and the other part - in Gdansk, in the room prepared by the directors of the conference. Both rooms were connected by an Internet teleconference link, so that the participants of both sections can see and hear one another. Furthermore, so that the abovementioned idea can be fully realized, the signal from Poznan Internet studio is made available on mumelab02.amu.edu.pl server; it can be accessed from any computer in the World. It is assumed, that potential active participants from the outside world will take part through indicated IRC channels and e-mail; the questions will be publically read and the addressees will answer "live".
Audio/video and audio signals are transmitted by separate servers. The platform chosen for audio transmission is Shoutcast, and for audio/video - Windows Media. An alternative platform - Real is ready and will be used at the next convenience.
